Arts and Craft, Culture Travel – Okinawa

During December, I went to Okinawa island of Japan. It’s the southern most island of Japan that has it own unique culture that is slightly different from the typical Japanese Culture. It also has many craft culture, as they specialise in glass and clay. It’s a very unique place.I love the fact that most of the souvenirs that I bought for myself are ones that I can make myself.

If you want to see where I went and the food and the arts and craft, come check out my youtube video ~ click it~~ ^_^

Since Okinawa’s Churaumi Aquarium had the largest glass panel in the world when they opened, it’s quite amazing! They have 2 whale sharks in it!!! It’s massive!!! The photo below isn’t even the full glass panel as I couldn’t fit it all in through my camera but it’s massive!!

There were also these garden eels which are sort of a mascot in Okinawa as well.

I kind of fail to see how they are popular though -_-

They kind of look weird….but my sister and cousin likes them…..

One of the things I made is a gel candle at Ryukyu Glass Craft. I wanted an ocean theme candle so I used blue and white sand and had a glass manta ray and a whale shark in it. Originally the sand were in layers but I think i didn’t push it down so air was trapped in it. When the workers poured the gel in, the sand can move so in the end it became just mixed sand T_T

<– before the gel was poured in

After the gel was poured in there were lots of bubbles but they disappear after being in the sun for awhile. But then a really hot day happened and the giant air bubble came up from underneath the sand so even the sand came up T_T

<– after all the smaller bubbles disappeared but the giant bubble came up

You can also see how the sand isn’t in layers anymore, but that’s ok….

Just some random thing I want to share: the road signs in Japan is cute as ~

There was also a Pineapple Park in Nago, which basically is a garden of pineapple….like pineapples everywhere!! They taste so good!! If you love pineapple like me then, go there!

#familygoals   There was this filter camera that turns you into pineapple so lol my fam…. ^_^

The other thing I did was paint a Shisa! A shisa is a guardian beast of the temple, and they are usually put in front of doors to keep evil demon/spirits away and invite the good spirits. I did this at the Okinawa World Culture Kingdom.

Also since it’s Japan, there were lots of street cats that were really friendly so I went and pat them because who wouldn’t!!! That’s it for this blog post~ Hope you like my travel post because I love posting about the adventures I went on!!!

It’s here!! My first BodyLine Order. A Beginner in Lolita Fashion~

One of my hobbies is to dress as Lolita. Not the Lolita from the western definition but the Lolita Fashion of Japan.

Lolita Fashion is actually based on Britain’s Victorian fashion but now with a touch of cuteness and all from Japan. I am actually just a beginner so I don’t know much about all the rules and everything that comes with it. I love watching animes and I love Japan’s culture and I have come into contact with Lolita Fashion before but never really tried it.

Until I’ve met a friend who has been wearing lolita dress since Year 6 and now, 1st year uni I decided to try it out! At first I was sort of embarrass to dress like this in public but if I am with a group of people, who cares! It’s what you think, not what everyone else thinks! There were some people who complimented us when we first went out dress like this! I am sort of half way between wanting to dress like this and not~

I don’t mind letting random strangers seeing me dress like this but with the friends that I already have, I kind of don’t want them to know this hobby of mine…

So back to the actual thing I want to write about~ ^_^

This hobby is expensive!!!!!!!!…….the brand clothing are really expensive!!!! Most people recommend you to start off with BodyLine which is is more affordable. BodyLine is not considered as lolita in Japan but everywhere around the world should be fine with it. Their prices are very decent and affordable and sometimes they even have sales~ which is why I bought 2 dresses.

Their shipping was actually really fast this time. I ordered and then a week and a bit later, it’s already here!!! I ordered a one piece dress and a high waisted skirt.  I used standard airmail because EMS is expensive!!! It’s packaged nicely and folded.

The one piece dress I got is l534 in wine red colour. It’s like Alice in  Wonderland theme with all the cards. The cards looks like biscuits when you look at it up close

The red is very pretty and the lacings are very nice at the hem of the dress. The material is pretty good considering they were on sale and it costed 666¥.

I just wore it with a random blouse~, the dress comes with a black collar so I might need to find a blouse that doesn’t have collar or one that can match the dress. It looks very nice~ There’s a detachable bow for the front and back but I forgot to put it on 😛 the bow with the same pattern goes to the front while the black one is for the back of the collar. (I don’t really want to show my face since, it’s Summer in Australia at the moment and I don’t have any make up or anything on and I am all sweating and everything…..) There’s lacing in the back so you need to adjust it to make it fit you better

The second item is l305, the Antique Clock high waisted skirt in green.

The green actually looks lighter than the photo I took~ the brown and the green matches very well and I am happy with it. It’s kind of reminds me of mint and chocolate!

My petticoat is a secondhand one from my friend so it lost its fluff so the skirt doesn’t seem puffy but it’s such a nice dress.

The back has lacing so it needs to be adjusted.

It’s such an awesome print though!! ^_^

I am very happy with my purchases as you can tell and it really makes me happy to dress pretty like dolls!

Love, Chi-Ra ❤ ^_^

Runaway to Cheung Chau, Hong Kong!

A while ago I was in Hong Kong to visit family~ I am still getting use to writing a blog and making youtube vlogs. Maybe I am just lazy because I love to procrastinate everything.

But at the same time I love to explore….and Cheung Chau is one of my favourite place to go to in Hong kong.

Cheung Chau is an island in Hong Kong and it only takes around 30 minutes – 45 minutes to get to on a boat. It has all the culture aspects of it as well as the aesthetics of the modern arts.

You can visit Cheung Chau for hiking and for nature or you could go there for cultural experiences or just plain exploring.

I love visiting temples and there were 2 that I went to in Cheung Chau. Cheung Chau is a tourist spot so there are of course many souvenir shops, which have many handmade, unique stuff. From accessories to everyday things, it’s definitely something you will only really find there. The island is also very nice for photos, I just love this place!!! ^_^

I even made a travel vlog about Cheung Chau so check it out!!                                                       click ^_^ –> Let’s Go to Cheung Chau

I hope you all love Cheung Chau as much as I do!

Love, Chi-Ra ❤

Hong Kong Makeup Haul

Just got back from my holiday in Hong Kong! Where I spent a lot of money on makeup!!!

As a girl who recently turned 19 years of age, it’s typical that I develop an interest in makeup.

Makeup is expensive!!!!! I love Korean brand makeup the most because as an Asian it suits better with me. Not that I don’t like other brands, it just I love these ones better!!

First up, Etude House!

Etude House is a more economical brand since it’s relatively cheaper compared to other brands. More affordable to me ^_^

I didn’t buy much but still it cost a lot! Especially for a girl who only have a part time job and doesn’t earn a lot and still is a student… Most of their products are long lasting and waterproof! Their eyeliners have so many different colours and it’s easy to get colour on! I bought a pink 101 play pencil, 2 101 play blending pencil, a foundation brush, a mascara, a face toner and some masks. The orange box is a gift from them after spending a certain amount of money. >_<

Etude House’s pencil liners don’t need a sharpener to sharpen it, you just twist it so the pencil/crayon moves up!!! 101 blending pencil can be used as eyeliner, eye shadow, blush and used on the lips, which is why it’s called blending pencil because it can be use as everything!

Up next: Tony Moly

Tony Moly is a tad more expensive than Etude House but still affordable! I just wanted face masks from there because it was on Christmas sale! I bought some tomato base, some pearl base and a pikachu one! They gave me an avocado one as a gift! I also bought something for the blackheads in my nose, blackhead steam balm, blackhead cooling pack and nose pore strips!

Tony Moly’s packaging are so cute! The nose pores balm and cooling cream are in an egg shape container! The lip sticks have little bunny faces on the lid cover with ears (it could be bears but I am not sure whether it’s bear or bunny)

The most expensive brand I bought from is Laneige.

I bought a primer base and the new two tone lipstick that was designed by Lee Sung Kyung (2nd lead actress of Kdrama Doctor) I got no.3 which has a mint lip balm on the bottom. This lipstick feels much softer and more like a lip balm so it moisturises your lip! It feels much better than lipstick and it smells nice! I love it (≧∇≦)

The rest of my haul are just random hahaha.

A sailor moon eyeliner, EXO Sehun hand cream from nature republic and some fake eyelashes!

That’s it from my HK cosmetic haul!

Tune in to my next post~

Glass bottle soft drink makes me happy ^_^

Have you seen these? They not that common where I live but every time I am at a Yum Cha place in Hong Kong, they have these!

For some reason, these retro bottle makes me happy. I love to especially order the creaming soda. That half opaque green yellow is a very fascinating colour. Depending on the lighting, it can be different shades of green and yellow.

Not to mention, this brand of creaming soda is so nice! One of my favourite!!

Totoro Terrarium

Just finished first year of uni and now it’s time for a well deserved break!! (^_^)

Recently I have been trying to be one with nature which resulted in me having more plants sitting at the kitchen window hahahah.

My newest addition is my attempt of a terrarium with Totoro as the theme~

I went up to Sydney to this workshop to learn how to make this. When I Snapchated this to my cousin the first thing he said was are those weeds…… (−_−;)

It’s not hard to make a terrarium but maintaining it is going to be hard so hopefully it survives!

In the near future, hopefully I can make more terrariums because I really enjoyed this!!!

A break before exam stress~ Humber

University final exams are like one week away and although everyone should be studying lots, sometimes you need a break here and there.

I went on a lunch break with my friends to Humber just in town on the weekimg_6733end. Although originally we wanted to sit on the roof top because it is very nice up there, the weather didn’t allow us. It was gloomy with a chance of rain so we sat inside.

On a bright sunny day, with clear blue sky, the roof top is the best place to sit. Humber in Wollongong is 3 stories tall in a triangular corner so the shape of place looks pretty unique.

The first floor is where the kitchen is with a coffee counter as well as tables and chairs.

Second floor is more of a bar style where at night, it’s a pretty chill place to be at.

The rooftop terrace has tables and chairs and also a bar but the bar is mostly for night as the rooftop bar which has really nice lighting at night.

I love Humber a lot because it has that unique feel that is aesthetically pleasing to me. A sort of vintage, quirky style, a very chill place to be!

We sort of sat right in the middle next to the window, so we were right next to kitchen. I was facing the coffee front counter and behind me is where the front door is. Our table was actually was in a nice space. It looks cramped in the photo but it actually isn’t.

There were four of us but for some reason, all my friends decided to order the chicken burger. I ordered a cheeseburger and we had some juices as drinks as well. Humber is not cheap, it cost me around $25 for a drink and the burger, but it is filling! The burgers taste amazing but be careful because there’s a lot of sauce and it always get really messy for me because the burger is huge and all the sauce are dripping out hahahaha. The chips are good although a bit too salty for me, it was literally chicken salt everywhere!!

I ordered a mix apple juice, so it has apple, pineapple, orange and something else in it. My friends got a melon juice so that has watermelon and other fruits in it. There was also the coconut juice that actually come as a whole coconut. I am not a big fan of coconut but my friend loved it!

I do like Humber, it’s one of the restaurants that I love bringing people to because I love the atmosphere in that place. It’s a nice place for catch up, but if you are a poor uni student like me then probably only go there every now and then.

It’s an amazing place to get away from the stress of exams!!
